The second record from The Boarding Party collects maritime work songs from far-flung sources, sung in three languages and accompanied by the detailed liner notes the group was known for. Among them is “The Old Peacock”, written by members of the United States Exploring Expedition of 1838 to 1842 and recorded here for the first time, its performance commissioned by the Smithsonian Institution to mark the voyage.
