Too Far From the Shore
The Boarding Party
The final album from The Boarding Party, the Washington-area shanty group of Jonathan Eberhart, Tom McHenry, K.C. King, Dave Diamond, and Bob Hitchcock. Its songs reach from the American Civil War to the Great Depression and well beyond the English-speaking world, including the Bangladeshi “Oray Sujon Naiya”. “Solar Privateer”, written by Eberhart, a science journalist, imagines the solar sail as a new kind of windjammer. The record is dedicated to him, as he died shortly before its release.
