A collection of sea stories and songs by Captain A.E. Dingle (1874–1947), an English sailor who went to sea at age 13 and spent 22 years before the mast. After being shipwrecked five times and losing much of his eyesight rounding Cape Horn, he turned to writing, producing over 35 books of maritime fiction and memoir. His works drew on firsthand encounters with pirates, hurricanes, and rescue at sea.
