Gerret Warner (1945-2024) was a documentary filmmaker, musician, and son of folklorists Anne and Frank Warner. Along with his brother Jeff Warner, he grew up assisting his parents as they traveled rural America recording stories and old songs for the Library of Congress. With Jeff, he produced “The Warner Collection,” a two-CD set of their parents’ field recordings. He later oversaw the reprinting of his parents’ book Traditional American Folk Songs and produced a live touring performance based on their collecting trips.
