This shanty has been listed separately from Hilo Somebody as they share no verses, but they should likely be consolidated. Doerflinger gets his version from Capt. James P. Barker, master of the last American commercial square-rigger, Tusitala. Barker recorded it, and his memories of "Lemon" Curtis, the finest shantyman he ever knew, in The Log of a Limejuicer: The Experiences Under Sail of James P. Barker, Master Mariner (1933).
