Cantu À Timùni (Song of the Helmsman)

Stan Hugill's source for this song is the 1948 edition of Alberto Favara's Canti della terra e del mare di Sicilia [Songs of the land and sea of Siciliy, first published 1907]. Favara was an Italian ethnomusicologist. The song is traditional in Sicily.

Timuni is the Sicilian word for helmsman.

Carlino, piccioni, and grano are old Sicilian coins.
